The listing

What you see in a listing.

A listing comes from the pet’s profile, not from a separate form — which is why it’s so detailed.

  • Species, breed, sex, age and colour
  • Neutering and pedigree
  • Vaccinations — with the next due date
  • Parasite control and vet visit history
  • City and a pin on the map
  • Owner’s name and phone — for logged-in users only

Vaccinations and visits are recorded by the veterinary clinic in VetCare; owners can’t edit them.

Shelters

Animal shelters in the directory.

The adoption section also has a shelter directory — with city, address, opening hours, phone, email, website and a description. A good place to start if you’d like to adopt from a shelter or volunteer.

  • Shelters in your city, with their opening hours
  • Contact details to reach the shelter directly
  • The directory is maintained by the VetCare team

Donations through VetCare — coming soon

Before and after

Adoption is a beginning, not an end.

Before you decide

  • Time

Walks, play, care — every day, for years.

  • Home and people

Is there space? Children, other pets, allergies at home?

  • Costs

Food, vaccinations, parasite control and unexpected vet visits.

  • Meet first

Ask about character, habits and health — and meet before you decide.

General advice — every animal and every home is different.

Adoption questions

How do I adopt a dog or cat through VetCare?

Log in with a free account and open “Adoption”. Filter by species, city and age, read the listing and call the owner — their phone number shows once you’re logged in. You agree the details directly.

Who posts the animals for adoption?

Their owners — from the pet’s profile in VetCare. Shelters are in a separate directory with their own contact details.

How do I find an animal shelter near me?

The adoption section has a shelter directory: city, address, opening hours and contacts. Contact the shelter directly to find out which animals need a home.

Can I donate to a shelter through VetCare?

Not yet. Donations are on our roadmap — coming soon. For now, please contact the shelter directly.

I’ve taken in a stray. Can I find it a home?

If the animal already lives with you and you add it to your account, you can mark it for adoption. If you’ve only just found it, first check the list of lost pets and take it to a vet to check for a microchip — someone may already be looking for it.

Does an adoption listing cost anything?

No. The pet owner account is free, and VetCare doesn’t process any payments for listings.

Every home starts with a first meeting.
